Programming is all good and all but sometimes it can get really draining and exhausting. Personally, I need motivation to code sometimes as a STEM girlie and how I do this is making my VS Code somehow aesthetic...I think. These are the extensions and themes I use to make my coding experience better.

Extensions

VSCode Pets

VSCode Pets is like having a bunch of cute virtual pets right in your Visual Studio Code editor! These little animated characters hang out with you while you code. They don't change how your editor works, but they sure add a fun touch to your coding space. You can choose from pets like cats, dogs, dragons, and more, each with their own cool animations and quirks. To get these playful extensions, just search for "VSCode Pets" or something similar in the Visual Studio Code marketplace.

There are different themes such as Castle theme, Beach theme and Forest theme. My personal favourite is the forest theme๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒฒ

Bongo Cat Buddy

The Bongo Cat extension for Visual Studio Code adds a fun and playful element to your coding experience. It features a virtual cat that reacts to your typing and cursor movements, providing entertainment while you work. It doesn't add any practical functionality to the editor, but it can definitely bring a smile to your face during long coding sessions.

Polacode

The Polacode extension for Visual Studio Code allows you to take beautiful screenshots of your code with a custom background. It captures your code in a stylized format and exports it as an image, making it perfect for sharing code snippets in presentations, documentation, or social media. It's a handy tool for showcasing your code in a visually appealing way.

CodeSnap

CodeSnap is a VSCode extension that allows you to generate beautiful, customizable code screenshots directly from your editor. It's particularly useful for sharing code snippets on social media, blogs, documentation, or presentations. With CodeSnap, you can customize the appearance of your code screenshots by selecting themes, font sizes, and other settings to match your preferences or branding. It's a handy tool for creating visually appealing code snapshots quickly and easily.

PS: I find it more aesthetically pleasing and better than Polacode ๐Ÿ˜Š

Materical Icon Theme

The Material Icon Theme is a popular Visual Studio Code extension that enhances the file icons in the file explorer sidebar. It replaces the default folder and file icons with colorful and visually appealing icons inspired by Google's Material Design language. The Material Icon Theme helps to quickly distinguish between different types of files and folders based on their icons, making it easier to navigate and manage your project files. It's a simple yet effective way to add a touch of style and organization to your coding environment. No one wants to have plain Visual Studio Code icons when they're coding right?

Prettier Extension

The Prettier extension for Visual Studio Code is like having a magic wand for formatting your code just the way you like it. It works with many programming languages and helps keep your code looking neat and tidy. By using Prettier, you can stick to coding instead of worrying about formatting rules. It's a favorite tool for developers who want their code to be clean and well-organized.

Subway Surfers Extension

The Subway Surfers extension for Visual Studio Code is a fun addition inspired by the popular mobile game. It transforms your coding environment into a Subway Surfers-themed interface, featuring graphics and elements from the game. While it doesn't provide any functional enhancements to the editor, it adds a playful and nostalgic touch for fans of the game. It's a lighthearted way to customize your coding experience and inject some personality into your workspace. It also has clips from family guy and minecraft parkour.

Themes

Tokyo Night Theme

The Tokyo Night Theme is a visually striking color theme for Visual Studio Code. Inspired by the neon-lit streets of Tokyo at night, it features vibrant colors that are easy on the eyes and provide a stylish backdrop for coding. The theme offers a dark background with contrasting colors for syntax highlighting, making your code stand out and improving readability. It's a popular choice among developers who prefer dark themes and want to add a touch of Japanese aesthetics to their coding environment.

Ariake Dark

The Ariake Dark theme is another popular color theme for Visual Studio Code. It provides a sleek and modern dark background with carefully chosen colors for syntax highlighting. The theme aims to create a comfortable and visually pleasing coding environment, with subtle contrasts that make code elements stand out effectively. Ariake Dark is known for its balanced combination of dark tones and vibrant accents, making it a favorite among developers who prefer dark themes that are both stylish and easy on the eyes.
